Knowledge Exchange Gathering: Storytelling

The Ontario Indigenous Centre of Excellence for Early Years and Child Care is extending an invitation to early years professionals to attend our upcoming Knowledge Exchange Gathering:

January 22nd from 2 – 4 pm EST.

This month, Elders, Knowledge Keepers, and educators will discuss embedding Indigenous storytelling and oral teachings in early years environments with connection to How Does Leaning Happen? Ontario’s Pedagogy for the Early Years.

The gathering will be held online via Zoom. Registration is now closed. The next gathering will be held February 26th, 2020.

Knowledge Exchange Gathering: Land Based Knowledge

The Ontario Indigenous Centre of Excellence for Early Years and Child Care is extending an invitation to early years professionals to attend our upcoming Knowledge Exchange Gathering:

November 27th from 4-6 pm EST.

This month, Elders, Knowledge Keepers, and educators will discuss land based knowledge in early years environments with connection to How Does Leaning Happen? Ontario’s Pedagogy for the Early Years.  

This gathering will explore Indigenous perspectives of land based knowledge emphasizing the interconnectedness between the natural and spiritual worlds and Indigenous identity.

Focusing on the inherent relationship between land and self; we will highlight the importance of reviving and reclaiming outdoor cultural practices in partnership with children, educators, families and community.

This gathering will be held online via Zoom.

Knowledge Exchange Gathering: Fostering Language in Early Learning Environments

Importance of Fostering Language in Early Learning Environments 

The Ontario Indigenous Centre of Excellence for Early Years and Child Care is extending an invitation to early years professionals to attend our upcoming Knowledge Exchange Gathering: Wednesday, October 23rd from 2 – 4 pm.  

This month, Elders, Knowledge Keepers, and educators will discuss fostering language in early years environments with connection to How Does Leaning Happen? Ontario’s Pedagogy for the Early Years.  

This gathering will highlight the importance of empowering educators to embrace using Indigenous languages in the classroom and how language links to our identity and spirit.  This gathering will stem from an Anishnaabe lens, with hopes of facilitating discussion about the diverse Indigenous languages present across the province.  

The gathering will be hosted online via Zoom and open to the public and community stakeholders.

The Ontario Indigenous Centre of Excellence for Early Years and Child Care is extending an invitation to early years professionals to attend our upcoming Knowledge Exchange Gathering: Wednesday, September 18 from 10am – 12 pm. 

This month, Elders, Knowledge Keepers, and educators will discuss the importance of relationships in early years environments.  Indigenous pedagogy is rooted in a relational context therefore the gathering will highlight the importance of our relations between: children, educators, families, animals, plants and the land with connection to How Does Learning Happen? Ontario’s pedagogy for the Early Years.
